ACCOMPLISHMENTS & SUCCESSES

From one Houston chapter in 1994 with 15 members, to currently 39 chapters in 25 states and 3000 members and associate members
Outreach to 4.2 million families during the 2003 fiscal year
Widely acknowledged and nationally recognized as a major resource for the medical community
Credited with having the first annual national African American Breast Cancer Conference (Houston 1999, 2001 and 2003; Atlanta 2000, Detroit 2002, Richmond, VA 2004) with an average attendance of 500 participants, CEU and CHES accreditation
The “National Network”, a quarterly newsletter, is the only African American breast cancer publication that links chapter to chapter and unites all communities with valuable breast health information; readership10,000
Three (3) recognized national educational outreach programs (The Gift For Life Block Walk™ , Pink Ribbon Awareness Program and Stop The Silence™: a continuation grant funded through the Office of Minority Health to address early breast health intervention for African American women ages 25 to 45
National partnership with MD Anderson Cancer Center on outreach through 25 chapters (S.P.I.R.I.T)
12 Sisters Network® Inc (SNI) members of the organization have completed the advance scientific training, Project Lead (NBCC- National Breast Cancer Coalition)
Three SNI members on the Department of Defense (DOD) committee
Two SNI members appointed to Komen National Advisory committee
